The aviation industry in Sri Lanka did not have a professional body to represent them in government and other forums. Fifteen professionals from the aviation industry realizing this need for a professional body, joined hands to form a society known as the “SRI LANKA AERONAUTICAL SOCIETY”

These aviation professionals and enthusiasts stated that their objective is to provide leadership and foresight in the field of aviation and to be an advisory group to the government and any other organisation to further aviation in Sri Lanka.

Aviation in Sri Lanka has a long and distinguished history. The Sri Lanka Aeronautical Society will be the firm foundation on which the future of aviation can be built. The Society will strive to emulate and improve on the past achievements and ensure the successes of the past will be the building blocks for successes in the future.
